Abstract

This article points out the impact of the Introductory Course to University Teaching (IUT) taught by the Valencia San Vicente Mártir Catholic University on the pedagogical training of university teachers, a fundamental instrument for adapting to the new demands set by the European Higher Education Area.

The study sample was made up of an IUT experimental group, made up of 36 teachers who took this training during the research; an experimental group, made up of 6 teachers who also implemented a methodology focused on learning and a control group, made up of 27 teachers who had not completed the training.

A quasi-experimental design with pretest and posttest measurements was used. Data collection was carried out using two different instruments, a Likert-type scale questionnaire and a portfolio to analyze the implementation of the methodology carried out by the teaching staff of the experimental group.

It was concluded that the IUT experimental group modified their beliefs about the importance of pedagogical training.
