Vallarino E. educational center https://revistas.up.ac.pa/index.php/antataura/article/view/7530
This article is the product of a non-experimental, descriptive cross-sectional study, which was carried out in the Joaquin J. Vallarino E. Educational Center, located in the district of Mariato, province of Veraguas, where the aim was to analyze the extrinsic motivation for learning Mathematics in students at the High School specializing in Science. A census sample was used in which 161 students participated distributed as follows: 70 tenth grade students, 46 eleventh grade students and 45 twelfth grade students. The result obtained tells us that the students have a medium extrinsic motivation, since the highest percentage when analyzing the frequencies is located within the option “sometimes”, considering the two dimensions, extrinsic motivational factors and extrinsic motivational strategies.
Lorenzo Caballero Vigil, Alexander A. It is a correlational and comparative study. The population consisted of 202 students enrolled in the first and second semester of 2024 in Statistics courses. A simple random sampling method was used, resulting in a sample of 132 students. The results showed a moderate correlation (? = 0.39) between class attendance and academic performance. Furthermore, significant differences in performance were found across the different levels of attendance. Students with higher attendance had better academic performance. According to the students, the factors that most influence performance are dedication to home study, class attendance, and numerical skills. This study highlights the importance of class attendance, but also the role of other factors in academic success.

Doralbis Alfaro Copyright (c) 2025 Visión Antataura http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/4.0 https://revistas.up.ac.pa/index.php/antataura/article/view/7532 Wed, 25 Jun 2025 00:00:00 +0000 The fundamental theorem of calculus: its inverse and generalization https://revistas.up.ac.pa/index.php/antataura/article/view/7533
The historical importance of the fundamental theorem of calculus lies not in the ability to perform the operations of differentiation and integration, but in the evidence that these two seemingly distinct processes are closely related. For this reason, the objective of this article is to analyze the fundamental theorem of calculus to determine the relevance of the hypotheses. This will allow us to state more general results than this theorem. The viability of the converse of the fundamental theorem of calculus will also be analyzed.
Jorge E. Hernández , Ángela Y. We define the concepts of rational quadrilaterals and cyclic quadrilaterals, illustrating and proving several of their properties. Subsequently, we present the significant contributions of Brahmagupta and Kummer related to the study of rational quadrilaterals. Finally, we introduce the concept of perfect quadrilaterals and demonstrate, with the aid of computational algebra, the existence of only eleven perfect cyclic quadrilaterals.

Alicia M. This situation prevents the use of this series for long-term analysis of the Panamanian economy. The paper uses data from the Population Census and simple statistical methods to provide estimates for these years, from which a simple average is obtained, which allows a more accurate figure. Unemployment rates of 8.1%, 8.2%, and 15.1% were found for the years indicated, and the individual estimates are close to each other in most cases. When compared with the results obtained from the Census, the 1980 figure (8.0%) is reasonable; however, the 1990 figure (11.6%) does not appear representative. The years analyzed represent considerably different situations in the Panamanian labor market, with the estimate for 1990 practically double that for 1980 and 1981.
Luis Antonio Pereira Sánchez Copyright (c) 2025 Visión Antataura http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/4.0 https://revistas.up.ac.pa/index.php/antataura/article/view/7539 Wed, 25 Jun 2025 00:00:00 +0000 Tourism as a factor of development and economic growth in Herrera and Los Santos https://revistas.up.ac.pa/index.php/antataura/article/view/7540
The study highlights the importance of tourism in the economy of the region, especially in Herrera and Los Santos. Its objective is to show how tourism activities contribute to the economic growth of these provinces and the country as a whole. Hypotheses were derived using a non-experimental cross-sectional design as the research methodology. A method that combines that will the collection of existing information, such as a literature review and a census of tourist attractions will be used. The objective is to identify the most important tourism factors that affect the economic growth of the mentioned provinces. This study used secondary sources such as statistical tables from the Ministry of Tourism, publications from the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, data from the Institute of Statistics and Census and the Ministry of Economy and Finance, etc. The chosen approach was descriptive interpretation, and it was supported by documentary research methods. The purpose is to analyze the variables and their correlation between tourism products and the development of the regional GDP. That is, it is based on documentary sources: notebooks that record observations and selected characteristics, field diaries, maps, cameras, cartography, photographs, archival documents and public sources. Each section is essential to document what was observed during the research. The implementation of this study was divided into several stages: creation of a database and discussion of the results, and finally the presentation of conclusions and recommendations based on the results.
Victorino Chávez Pimentel Copyright (c) 2025 Visión Antataura http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/4.0 https://revistas.up.ac.pa/index.php/antataura/article/view/7540 Wed, 25 Jun 2025 00:00:00 +0000 Feasibility study on disseminating scientific content through the Panama Metro's audiovisual System https://revistas.up.ac.pa/index.php/antataura/article/view/7541
This study examines the feasibility of incorporating scientific content into the audiovisual system of the Panama Metro, exploring its potential as a communication tool in a high-traffic urban environment. The objective is to establish the foundations for transforming an urban communication platform into a tool for civic education and inspiration. A mixed-methods approach was adopted for the study, integrating both qualitative and quantitative methodologies. The study identifies the characteristics, challenges, and opportunities for implementing this initiative through interviews with key stakeholders, a detailed analysis of the current audiovisual schedule, and a survey of Metro users. Results show that the current schedule includes institutional, educational, and cultural content but lacks scientific communication. Users expressed significant interest in cultural, educational, and scientific materials, indicating a receptivity to this type of content. The study concludes that Metro screens can become an effective platform for bringing science closer to the public, fostering an inclusive and accessible scientific culture. It is recommended to launch a pilot project to measure public receptivity, establishing a precedent for integrating scientific narratives in urban contexts as an educational and transformative resource.
Zabdiel O. The objective of this quantitative, descriptive, retrospective and transactional study was to analyze the effects of the program on the quality of life of its beneficiaries. The instrument used: Quality of life in old age (WHOQOL-OLD of the World Health Organization). The study revealed that 47% of the older adults the elderly in the program perceives “normal” satisfaction in the autonomy dimension, and 71% of them perceive that the sensory skills dimension “somewhat” diminishes their ability to participate in activities, which in turn deteriorates their quality of life. The program (“120 at 65”) is a response to public policies in Panama; however, it requires monitoring to ensure a significant impact on the quality of life of its beneficiaries.
Rosario Quijada Pinzón, Delia Barrios Barrios Copyright (c) 2025 Visión Antataura http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/4.0 https://revistas.up.ac.pa/index.php/antataura/article/view/7542 Wed, 25 Jun 2025 00:00:00 +0000 Diverse Perspectives on the Study of Synonymy https://revistas.up.ac.pa/index.php/antataura/article/view/7543
This article begins with a survey of the various theories and authors who have addressed the linguistic phenomenon of synonymy. The different perspectives of definitions and classifications are examined. As a methodology, classical and contemporary sources are approached, which implied a systematic review and analysis, to derive a basic didactic proposal. The literature review revealed an evolution, ranging from simplistic conceptions to more complex approaches that consider semantic, pragmatic and contextual aspects. Several classifications were identified, highlighting the prevalence of partial synonymy over total synonymy. This part of the study underlines the importance that synonymy has had for theorists in lexicography, language teaching and natural language processing. However, the author concludes that didactically the emphasis should be on the acquisition of new vocabulary and therefore makes a model proposal at a university level.
Lidia E. In this regard, the purpose of this article is to determine the variety of linguistic forms in the use of the future tense in both Spanish and English, and the diversity of contextual nuances that underlie each form of expression. The research is based on a thorough bibliographical review on the subject supported by examples extracted from the referenced texts as well as from other sources consulted. With this goal in mind, interviews were conducted with bilingual teachers and a test was also applied to students of the Bachelor's Degree in Spanish, so that examples could be extracted to illustrate the study. It is concluded that one of the major differences that separates the Spanish present tense from its English analogue is found in the use that each language makes of the temporal specification to refer to the future tense.
Maritza Almendas Bravo Copyright (c) 2025 Visión Antataura http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/4.0 https://revistas.up.ac.pa/index.php/antataura/article/view/7544 Wed, 25 Jun 2025 00:00:00 +0000 Spelling problems arising from graphemically confusion due to phoneme use in first-year students at the Azuero regional university center of the university of Panama, year 2025 https://revistas.up.ac.pa/index.php/antataura/article/view/7551
It is widely believed that spelling is facing alarming difficulties among young students. Some blame it on the use of social media, where, incidentally, the Orthography of the Spanish Language allows the use (within them) of abbreviated spelling and the use of emojis. (RAE y ASALE, 2011). The objective of this research is to determine the most common errors made by first-year students at the Azuero Regional University Center in 2025, based on the fact that, in Panamanian Spanish, many phonemes (b, v; c, s, z; b, v; y, ll), among others, are pronounced the same way even though they are not spelled the same. This situation, which does not occur in Spain, generates confusion among young students, who, out of inertia, assume that if two phonemes are pronounced the same way, it is logical that their graphemes are spelled the same. There are commonly accepted ideas such as: "spelling enters through the eyes," which means that good reading skills are a fundamental element for achieving good spelling; also: "you learn to do by doing"; that is, you learn to write by writing, and, of course, you cannot ignore knowledge of the fundamental rules of spelling, which, when put into practice, contribute to achieving specific objectives on the subject.
Ayleen R. A sample of 100 university students from the Language Center, at the fourth level of the redesigned program, was selected and divided into two groups: experimental and control. The experimental group utilized Nearpod in synchronous online classes, whereas the control group did not. The independent variable was the use of Nearpod, while the dependent variables were students' grammatical competence and their perceptions of Nearpod. Data collection involved a pretest, a grammatical competence test, a student perception survey, and a posttest of grammatical competence. The pretest results revealed that 42% of students had low grammatical competence. The perception survey indicated that most students found Nearpod easy to use, motivating, and effective in improving their grammatical skills, though some feedback and activity appropriateness could be enhanced. Posttest results showed significant improvement in grammatical competence in the experimental group, with fewer students scoring below 7 points and more achieving medium and high scores. After that, the triangulated results from the pretest, perception surveys, and posttest offer a comprehensive understanding of Nearpod's impact. The study concludes that Nearpod is an effective tool for enhancing grammatical competence in EFL students in virtual education, significantly contributing to better learning outcomes through student engagement and real-time feedback. By focusing on personalized learning and continuous improvement, Nearpod can further enhance EFL education and other learning areas.
Rosa M. Contreras J., Mary T. Cifuentes R, Kerly J. Feijoó R.
