The current article presents the results of a qualitative study that aimed to describe the factors that affect creative abilities around the Artistic Education subject of Secondary Education students. The approach was qualitative with a descriptive - exploratory scope. 10 10th and 11th grade students and a teacher of Artistic Education from the Buenos Aires Educational Institution, commune 4 (Cazucá), in the Municipality of Soacha - Cundinamarca, Colombia, participated. The data collection instruments were the open interview, the focus group and the record of artifacts, which were applied through a pedagogical activity. The method of analysis was carried out by means of triangulation, which made it possible to code and saturate the data at the open and axial level. As main results it was obtained that for students there are internal and external factors that affect creativity when they carry out and finish their artistic productions. It is recommended to do documentary reviews to identify projects and policies around the propensity for creativity of students.
