The research dealt with in this Project is the outcome of the concerns undergone by three researchers, who work at the university of Panama and are very worried about our students’ poor reading comprehension skills. The researchers are aware that to succeed in their academic performance, the learners must become frequent readers and achieve higher levels of understanding. The purpose of this research is to figure out the students’ reading comprehension levels, and based on the results obtained, to propose the Public Relations faculty a methodology to improve their students reading skills. To attain this goal, the students were administered two assessment instruments that allowed us to confirm that the students’ reading habits as well as their levels of understanding were very poor, largely because of their poor language proficiency, which needs to be improved.
