Abstract

This work descriptively analyzed gender equity in higher education in the State of Hidalgo, Mexico, using the 2010 population and housing Census as a source of information. Through the variables of age, sex, education, school years courses and professional training; The gender gap in general is analyzed and by means of statistical rates, parity of access to university studies was calculated for men and women by age and compared the choice of academic training based on those considered typically male and female. Based on the above, it is quantitatively conjectured that equity is apparent if the comparative conditions are detailed by age and qualitatively due to the persistence of professional training stereotypes in men and women.
