Abstract

The objective of this study was to analyze the development of field trips as a didactic strategy in two courses of the Bachelor of Biology at the University of Panama. The purpose was to diagnose strengths and weaknesses in their execution, with a view to optimizing them as a didactic strategy.

We worked with 9 teachers and 81 students who participated in 5 tours carried out during the second semester of 2016. It is a cross-sectional, qualitative descriptive study.

Analysis criteria related to the academic organization, logistics and interaction, grouping and attitudes of the students were used.

The triangulation of field observation instruments, surveys and interviews showed that there are logistical and academic organization deficiencies that must be corrected in order to better achieve the learning objectives and the achievement of competencies.
