Abstract

The article is based on the study entitled "School reading: an approach to the experience between the digital book and the physical book" which aimed to analyze the experience of high school students from two public educational institutions after a comparative reading of the printed book and the electronic book, from the perspective of learning styles and reading comprehension. In this article, one of the components of this research is developed, which is: knowing the experience of school reading in both formats: digital and printed from the comparison and documentary analysis. It was found that the similarities between both types of reading are: plausibility, use of language, hypertextuality, complements and presentation. The differences are organized in the dimensions: accessibility, distribution, use, characteristics, quality, health, and cost.

The methodology was based on a documentary analysis that consisted of searching for information in specialized databases, between 2015 and 2020, such as Redalyc, Scielo, Dialnet, Google Academic, Scopus and web of science, as well as among the bibliographic resources of the Rafael García Herreros virtual library of Uniminuto. The documentary research will reach 80 RAE files using selection criteria in search terms such as digital, printed, analog reading, reading formats, use of ICT as a pedagogical tool and digitalliterature; The analysis was based on the experience of school reading in both formats, so it was possible to determine their similarities and differences from a comparative perspective.
