The process of developing and validating a documentary research measurement instrument to determine the motivation degree of engineering students at the Universidad de Panama, aims to relate two variables: academic performance and motivation. With a mixed (quantitative-qualitative) approach, the inductive method is used, which leads to the analysis and bibliographic review, especially of scientific articles that allow to obtain information for the instrument elaboration.
This process has two phases: the first is the qualitative one, which consists in the elaboration of the instrument, and the second is the quantitative phase, in which the evaluation of the contents metric properties is carried out, where internal validity, construct validity, criterion validity, stability and performance are used, keeping that sequence in the elaboration of the measurement instrument for a subjective variable. This process will allow to elaborate the measurement instrument that will be applied to engineering students at the Universidad de Panama, where the results will determine their motivation levels.
