Abstract

Information systems are inseparable from the country's productive infrastructure, although they often go unnoticed. They are the nervous system that makes it possible to make, the most, of production by enhancing the value of resources and the workforce. In the banking sector, this information infrastructure far exceeds the perceived value of its actual offices. It is a digital, disruptive, immediately interconnected complex offered to users for the efficient management of their money and the protection of their capital assets. But the system does not reach everyone. The pandemic caused by the COVID -19 coronavirus revealed a Latin American and Panamanian reality: financial inclusion and banking penetration does not exceed 60% of the population and that means social exclusion. The national financial system, which did not stop during the pandemic, has a challenge ahead: the financial inclusion of the population in percentages similar to, or higher than, developed countries.
