Abstract

Samples of the rice (GAB 8 variety) philosopher were carried out in a plot under the modality of subsistence organic agriculture, located in Los Alvéos, Coclé, Panamá. Isolations of bacteria which cause bacterial blight if the rice  panicle from the rice  phyllosphere, in vitro confrontation tests and identification of microorganisms with antagonistic potential against the pathogen Burkholderia glumae, were made total of 64 epiphytic bacterial strains were isolated, of which 24 corresponded to the apical section of the leaf, 11 from the middle section and 30 from the basal section of the phyllosphere, of which,  21 presented positive antagonism (halo?4mm in diameter) against the phytopathogen B. glumae.  The 10 bacterial strains with the highest inhibition halo were identified, corresponding to the genus Bacillus spp (the API system and rpoB gene sequencing were used).
