A market research was carried out through mixed research methods, based on the collection of numerical and text data, and its contextualization. Upon analyzing the database of qualified professionals in agricultural sciences, it was concluded that there are few higher technical offers and no national offer of doctorate programs in agricultural sciences in Panama; there is a record of 42 foreign-trained PhDs. The market surveys revealed, on the one hand, unmet demand for doctoral training in agricultural sciences in Panama (102 people), and, on the other hand, the willingness of 31 professionals with doctoral degrees to offer their knowledge as potential professors in a national training program at the doctoral level; the doctors indicated 89 research areas under their domain. The social need for doctoral programs in agricultural sciences in the country was demonstrated, to increase the social benefits of scientific production and the increase in the quality of higher education by generalizing the doctoral degree in the teaching staff.
