The human-animal encounter, refers to the relationship established with animal species such as dogs and cats. There are studies that describe that pets can be an ally to mitigate health deficiencies (Sánchez, 2016, p. 10). This research aims to analyze the experiences of elderly people with their pets and the effects on their health. Methods and Procedures: This is a qualitative descriptive phenomenological study, using an analysis unit of eight (8) elders with pets selected from "El Campo Deportivo Santiago Apostol", with non-probability sampling, by judgment or intentionality. The participant observation technique will be applied. Besides, four unstructured interviews will be conducted for each participant and an audio recorder will be used. The dual technique will also be used to transcribe the field notes gathered in the recording. The inductive content analysis will be processed in the Atlas Ti version 9 software organized according to the phenomenological approach of the Hurselian theory and will include co-occurrence tables, semantic networks, Sankey Graphs, and the analysis by intensity for the triangulation of the essence of the phenomenon. The results obtained will help to take positive steps towards healthy aging.
