Abstract

The evaluation of job performance is an efficient and effective tool to measure and improve the performance of workers. In the field of public administration, which has been the subject of intense questioning regarding the management of resources of all citizens, the implementation of this evaluation tool is presented as a crucial measure to promote efficiency, transparency, accountability and effectiveness in the public sector. The objective of this evaluation is to highlight the importance of the evaluation of job performance in the motivation of workers, as a means to increase their performance; to be more efficient and effective in what they do and to increase their commitment to the institution. To do so, specialized literature was reviewed, and it was collected from collaborators of different public institutions, which allowed us to know opinions regarding the reason for the instrument. The evaluation of job performance allows to identify areas susceptible to improvement, talents and strategies to promote the professional development of collaborators by improving the quality in the management of services and the adequate use of public resources.
