On a horizontal or inclined plane, the motion of a body of mass , starting from rest and caused by another body of mass falling vertically through a pulley tied at its ends by a string, leads to the study of the indirect determination of the coefficient of kinetic friction, , between the surface of the plane and the body when the latter maintains a uniformly accelerated rectilinear motion. To this end, possible mathematical models were constructed according to a control of the variables, so that the general mathematical model of both planes, relating all the variables for these situations, could be divided into specific models. These models were based on assumptions that allowed relating , , and as independent variables and as the dependent variable, along with the parameters kept constant.
