Languages use multiple verb forms to express future actions. In this regard, the purpose of this article is to determine the variety of linguistic forms in the use of the future tense in both Spanish and English, and the diversity of contextual nuances that underlie each form of expression. The research is based on a thorough bibliographical review on the subject supported by examples extracted from the referenced texts as well as from other sources consulted. With this goal in mind, interviews were conducted with bilingual teachers and a test was also applied to students of the Bachelor's Degree in Spanish, so that examples could be extracted to illustrate the study. It is concluded that one of the major differences that separates the Spanish present tense from its English analogue is found in the use that each language makes of the temporal specification to refer to the future tense.
