The pharmaceutical industry has partially displaced magistral and officinal preparations, despite their individualized therapeutic value. This study aimed to determine the degree of patient acceptance of these preparations in Panama City. An observational, analytical, cross-sectional study was conducted with a sample of 90 randomly selected patients from public and private healthcare centers. A 12-item anonymous digital survey was administered. The results showed that 81% of respondents were women, and most were unable to differentiate between magistral and officinal formulations; however, 85% expressed trust in pharmacists, and more than 80% indicated they would use a formulation recommended by this professional. It is concluded that, although there is widespread lack of knowledge regarding both types of preparations, there is a high willingness to use them, mediated by the pharmacist’s educational and professional role.
