OAI-PMH (Open Archives Initiative - Protocol for Metadata Harvesting) is a protocol used for the transmission of metadata on the Internet.

The OAI was created with the aim of developing standards to facilitate the interoperability of content on the Internet, so it is not a project focused on scientific publications, but on the communication of metadata on any electronic medium.
