Abstract

Environmentalism is a movement concerned with protecting the environment. Although
some interpretations place previous antecedents of it, it is common to mention the 60s
and 70s as the beginning of the history of the environmental movement since 1962 is key to history due to the fact that Silent Spring, a book that warned about the problems caused by the excessive use of pesticides. The publication cemented the emergence of an
environmental awareness, so that recent years have witnessed this mobilization gain strength
in different countries such as the United States, Germany and Belgium, thus incorporating
one of the concerns of society for issues such as climate change. In the case of El Salvador,
its arrival is late, however, there is the formation of ecological organizations, among which
is the Salvadoran green environmental movement that fights for the protection of natural
resources, therefore, there is a need to emphasize that the human beings are dependent
on the environment that surrounds them. Therefore, this movement assumes challenges
in environmental issues since it is necessary to promote the conservation and defense of
the environment, informing and involving all social levels in the improvement of conditions
environmental, which allows social development in harmony with its natural ecosystems, in
this way it is contributing to the construction of agents of change who carry out actions to
correct environmental problems.
