In The Afro-descendant Cultural Musical Legacy in Panama: The Beachers of Bocas del
Toro. it reflects on the importance of the cultural contribution of the brilliant plethora of
Afro-descendants, today increasingly proud of their origins and their historical performance
and in particular the musical cultural legacy. This research is complemented by a close and
fruitful intercultural dialogue through music, which for more than 50 years this group “Los
Beachers de Bocas del Toro” has produced, as part of the identity, of the Panamanian
cultural society. The purpose of this work is to spread the cultural contribution that the
Afro-descendant community and this legendary group has managed to develop. The
work is based on oral and documentary research in order to reflect, analyze and assess the link between the past
and the present in the progressive rooting of this musical cultural identity, which has largely
contributed to national cultural integration.
