Abstract

In this note, the first observation of chicks of the Wilson’s Plover (Charadrius wilsonia) is recorded in the Sarigua National Park, located in the province of Herrera, Panama. Observations of three chicks together with their parents were made on July 7, 2021, near the shrimp farms in the park. Black-necked Stilt chicks (Himantopus mexicanus) were also sighted. During this visit cars were seen in the park near the observation area. More observations are necessary to learn the nesting periods of these and other species so that access restrictions can be developed for people and vehicles during the nesting months. This species faces threats from alterations to its habitats.
