This article studies the main causes that motivate entrepreneurship in Ecuador, since it is the country with the highest percentage of new entrepreneurs in Latin America, followed by Peru. This work has compiled accurate information from surveys, official sources, INEC, Banks, Superintendence of Companies, etc. Analyzing crucial situational factors such as the influence that the COVID-19 pandemic had on business, employment and entrepreneurship in the country. Determining that the main reason that drives Ecuadorian families to start a business is unemployment, followed by the dissatisfaction of some non-full employment, or unpaid underemployment. Therefore, we are talking about a large number of entrepreneurs who do it driven by necessity, resulting in many ventures that fail to stay afloat, that remain stagnant, due to lack of vocation, financial education, investment and excessive competition. Strategically, this study is considered to have a quantitative and subjective methodology through the use of surveys and overviews recently approved by specialists in the field. It was possible to distinguish that 80% of the population has an encouraging perspective about the future despite being in a circumstance of lack of employment, while 97% say that entrepreneurship is an option that helps to solve financial and family needs.
