Abstract

The objective of this paper is to discuss the hypothesis, introduced by some sectors that are part of the national debate, according to which metallic mining should be considered as a possible strategic sector for the achievement of sustainable human development in Panama. For this purpose of establishing its validity or not, an effort is made to establish the necessary methodological elements for this purpose. Its application finally leads to the conclusion that it is a false hypothesis.
