Abstract

This article addresses the role that universities must play as catalysts for sustainable human development. Emphasis is placed on the need to incorporate the gender perspective in academia due to the patriarchal bias that persists in the curriculum, language, and university governance. Around the world, in general terms university enrollment has become feminized, although a bias towards so-called traditional majors persists. Therefore, it is necessary to incorporate gender policies that allow women to ascend the pyramid of science and technology.
