The motivation of this research occurs by evaluating the axes or components of the so-called International Services Platform (PSI), to which the International Banking Center (IWC) belongs, an economic sector that is included within the comparative advantage (geographical position). that Panama has taken advantage of and whose heritage is due to the period of Spanish colonization. The objective is to measure the effects or economic impact of the CBI on the Panamanian economy.
The methodology used is based on the collection of information on the financial situation of the CBI, through the statistics provided by the Superintendency of Banks of Panama and the financial reports of each bank to compile fixed assets for impact analysis; whose application is part of the methodology of the Input-Output Tables, prepared for the years 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2022 with reference to 2018 prices and with measurements of chained volumes. The results confirm that the CBI is an essential component for the economic growth and development of Panama, responding to the conception managed since the 70's, which indicated that it would become a conglomerate of great strategic importance linked to the country's comparative advantage, considering its geographical position.
