The main purpose of this study is to highlight and bring to context some important aspects in regards to “Virtual Tutoring. Role of the Teacher in Distance Learning”, and to collaborate with those faculty and students immersed in blended learning scenarios, distance learning or virtual, and to motivate them to research about the topic in order to contribute with the development of “Distance Learning” systems in the universities of the country, leading to the improvement of the programs that use said method, offered in said universities. After reviewing some concepts and work done in distance learning or virtual learning, its intended to conclude about the main functions, competencies, and roles of the Teacher-Tutor in the new scenarios or virtual environments for interactive learning (VEIL), 115 as factor of success in said courses following this education method; also, it is pointed out how to prevent frustrations in distance learning students. Finally, the study arrives at some conclusions that illustrate the way to a successful virtual tutoring.
