The promotion of health is the fundamental pillar of health systems based on primary care; it has been strengthened by the Ministry of Health as the leading Institution that runs health in Panama. More and more actions are being developed to educate the population, promote healthy lifestyles and health services, in order to prevent diseases or situations that put the health of the population at risk. Among these strengthening measures are concrete initiatives such as joint and cross-sectorial efforts for the proper development of health programs, directed at special populations and the general population. With these actions, the Public Health in our country is increasingly focused on the achievement of a preventive model, offering comprehensive care to the population and allowing them to have greater control over the determinants of health. In this way, Panama is committed to the fulfillment of international commitments in matters of Public Health.
