The goal was to measure the morphometric index and make the induced reproduction of Cyphocharax magdalenae (Steindachner, 1878) sardina Maná, to find out the type of food consumed by the larvae. 20 males and 20 females were chosen from which their morphometric data was obtained. For the induced reproduction, a GnRH analog hormone (SGnRHa) and a dopamiine inhibitor (5.0 ml/Kg) were used. The females´ morphometric values were: total length 17.25 ± 0.7 cm, standard length 14.14 ± 0.7 cm, head length 37.49 ± 1.8 mm, ocular diameter 10.9 ± 0.80 mm, body height 41.61 ± 3.4 mm and body weight 80.49 ± 9.3 g; while males´ total length was 16.7 ± 0.83 cm, standard length 13.5 ± 0.7 cm, head length 35.6 ± 1.8 mm, ocular diameter 10.8 ± 0.5 mm, body height 38.9 ± 1.7 mm and body weight 64.7 ± 7.0 g. The larvae in their first stage instar consume phytoplankton, then change their diet to zooplankton.
