Abstract

This paper shows the historical evolution of the concept of determinants. The Hadamard's matrices, the normalized Hadamard's matrices, and the determinant of a square matrix are also defined. Some examples of Hadamard's maximum determinants are presented, and we exhibit the relationship between the maximum determinants of matrices whose elements are zero and one, and the Hadamard's determinants. Finally, the Vandermonde determinant is presented.
