The effectiveness of the use of edible baits as attractants in photo-trapping stations for the detection of medium and large mammals in the Mamoní Valley Reserve, Republic of Panama, was evaluated. Using meat and fruit baits, six species belonging to five orders and six families were detected, where the tayra (Eira barbara) was the species with the highest relative frequency and frequency of occurrence with 0.064% and 0.0021%, respectively. Other species such as Panthera onca and Tapirus bairdii were also detected thanks to the use of meat bait, presenting only one individual.
