Abstract

The following study is done as a longitudinal investigation of the participation of the labour leader Paula Jimenez on the development of the Panamanian syndicalism from 1922 to 1990. This female worker struggles in order to create conscious in politician, government leaders and members of the parliament about the necessity of women at the work place. These social struggles help the modification Labour Law such as vacations, remunerated permissions and maternity leaving. It also includes a study of the participation of Paula Jimenez in the constitution and consolidation of the labour organizations such as unions, mutuals, professional associations, syndicates and others which central objective was to obtaining better working conditions.
