This study focuses on a current reality of vital importance for the country. To do this, it first revisits the historical and legal background related to the development of telemedicine in Panama. Next, it exposes some of the main definitions on telemedica contained within the Panamanian legislation and some given by important institutions of the USA and Italy. Once this is done, and having certain basic notions and a certain historical and conceptual evolution of telemedicine, a reading of the main laws that regulate telemedicine in Panama will be made. Finally, as a last point, the WHO guidelines on ethics and governance of AI are reviewed, which constitutes an invitation to update the existing legislation since.
