Abstract

Crime is a complex and multifactorial phenomenon, rooted in an interaction of individual, social, economic, and institutional factors. There is no single cause, but rather a network of influences that can lead an individual to commit criminal acts.

Understanding these diverse causes is essential for developing more effective prevention and rehabilitation strategies that address the deep roots of the problem. In this work, from an academic perspective, we call the "bitter root," considering the dire and often irreparable consequences that emerge from crime and that humanity has suffered directly or indirectly since its existence.
