The essay addresses the cinematographic policy implemented in Ecuador, in the period from 2006, the year in which the Law for the Promotion of National Cinema was proclaimed and the Consejo Nacional de Cinematografía (CNCINE) was created, until 2016, in which this Law was repealed after the approval of the Organic Law of Culture. In the first part, a brief introduction to cinematographic public policies in Latin America is made. Secondly, the antecedents of the cinematographic policy in Ecuador are described, as well as the legal framework, from 2006 to 2016. Finally, the creation of the Consejo Nacional de Cinematografía (CNCINE) is addressed and a brief analysis of the procedure to grant aid from the Fondo de Fomento Cinematográfico.
