Abstract

Are images a language nowadays? Well, it's not just a statement, images are a language today! This is nothing new for the digital and postmodern era of immediacy, where we can instantly see what's happening around the world. Of course, this is only true for the part of the world that has access to electronic technology, and its flagship, the internet. It may seem irrelevant to think that everyone has access to this medium, but the information and communication about it indicate otherwise. This leads us to believe that this language (the digital one) is hindered by the communication pathway itself, which is ironic since digital images are generated to be "uploaded to the web" for communication but are unable to communicate effectively. The assumption in this postmodern world is that all human beings are connected to electronic media as if we were born with new genetics that include new appendages for this purpose, with integrated peripherals and input/output channels.
