The dental staff must take actions to protect their eyes and those of their patients to prevent eye damage that may occur with the blue light of light curing units. In the market, there is a wide variety of glasses, protective handheld screens and shields that are attached directly to the light guide tip, but they have to be truly effective to filter the dangerous wavelengths, mainly between 390 and 480nm. The present study evaluated the degree of knowledge of students about the ocular blue light hazard and the best practices for eye protection. Most of them are aware of the importance of this protection, but a high percentage does not wear it in a correct manner, or doesn’t wear it at all.
