The objective of this article is to carry out a literature review of the applications of CBCT to observe periodontal support tissues and to be able to define the limits of orthodontic movements whose clinical application favors optimal results of orthodontic treatment, reduce the risk of recessions. gingival and focuses the personalized therapeutic approach based on the phenotype of the patient to be treated.
After reviewing the literature, the use of CBCT is reinforced as the optimal radiographic method for evaluating periodontal support structures in different sagittal, transverse and retained canine malocclusions.
The clinical relevance of this review focuses on the prevention of periodontal defects and the deterioration of dental support structures because of orthodontic treatments.
