The present bibliographic review was carried out on 22 articles that in general had some relationship with the topic of periodontal biotype and orthodontic. We also review the literature to understand the concept of biotype and aspects of the interdisciplinary relationship between both specialties.
The literature requires more randomized controlled and prospective studies, which have a design that allows variables to be evaluated in similar populations on a subject that has been studied for decades, but in which to date there is no defined consensus, but recommendations given by the AAO and AAP, which can shed light on better management to avoid periodontal damage in patients undergoing orthodontic treatment
