The analysis of the cost of food in Panama includes a historical journey from 2010 to 2023 and its perspectives, for this purpose, the information generated by the Ministry of Economy and Finance and the Central American Integration System was used. whereas this is a fundamental indicator reflecting the socio-economic situation in Panama, we analyse the changes brought about by specific social policies on the basic basket, changes whose attributes are established simply and empirically on the basis of national and international data presented on food. Similarly, the costs of the Basic Basket are compared with the Healthy Food Basket of the Ministry of Health; and a more real estimate of its costs related to a more real composition of the family group in the middle and lower strata of Panamanian society.
