Abstract

In the preparation of this work, different sources of information were taken into account, highlighting the statistical data for public use in the Institute of Statistics and Census of Panama on the tourism sector such as foreign direct investment (FDI), gross domestic product (GDP ) ) and entry and exit of passengers; where a 14-year time line was taken into account to achieve the greatest significance of the data offered. As secondary sources, various articles on the subject were taken into account, as well as relevant news and public information from the Panama Tourism Authority (ATP). As for the analysis, it will be done using the Econometrics View (Eview) and Microsoft Excel programs.

Regarding the approach of the present, in the first instance an introductory framework will be provided where we will seek to define the phenomenon of study and indicate why its approach is important, in the subsequent points a glimpse of the historical evolution of tourism in the country will also be given. to explain each one of the indicators that were taken into account for the analysis in order to show its relevance in it, then the results obtained when developing the data in the analysis programs will be shown with the objective of demonstrating its significance to be able to forecast the growth possibilities of the sector and try to estimate how long it may take for the sector to recover to its previous levels. Finally, the conclusions and recommendations will be issued based on the conclusions.
