Abstract

The research was conducted with the objective of learning about the factors that holds the economic activity in the province of Coclé and its potential eco and agro tourism development, in order to foster improved live and enhances the economic rights of women in the labor market.
The statistics of the Office of the Comptroller-General evidence that Coclé GDP is higher in the tertiary Sector with 55.4%, having in the secondary sector 36.3% and the primary Sector 24.3, respectively.
The relevant economic activities in these sectors are: Government (14.4%). Agriculture and forestry (12.2%). Hotels and restaurants (11.3%). Transport, storage and communications (10.2%). Trade to the wholesale and the retail (9.6%).
The tourism potential is evident with its contribution to GDP and the diversity of hotels on the beautiful beaches of the Pacific coast and the large number of visiting tourists. The rich collection of photos and testimonies show the wealth for eco-development, and ecotourism in current projects. Support to farms and agro tourism is on the rise, generating economic benefits for the population. Persistence of wage inequality in the labor market prevents women from receiving coclesano, equal pay.

The results indicate that the province of Coclé has great tourist potential; it needs good incentive policies to develop tourism businesses in areas with ecological beauty, but lack the resources for exploitation.
Dissemination, teaching at all levels of education, the regulation of employment with focus on gender and equal opportunities is important. Focus on public policies for the regional eco-tourism is strongly required.
Update statistics for more up-to-date results. Regulate the institutional support with studies of projects covering the women workers with pay equity. Consider the capacity of professionals in economics, at the Coclé’s University of Panama, to contribute to with econ and agro tourism projects result in benefit for marginal communities of the province of Coclé.
