PEATC was performed in order to evaluate the normal values of PEATC parameters and the integrity of the hearing pathway in subjects exposed to changes in atmospheric pressure. As results, 112 subjects, 56 controls and 56 cases, whose ages range from 18 to 60 years old. Latency, amplitude and wave intervals that were compatible with literature. In groups of divers aged 46 to 60 years, with more than 15 years of diving and with a history of barotrauma the increase in latency and decrease in amplitude was statistically significant, with a P < 0.05. Increased latency suggests that this technique is useful for early detection of hearing damage that could be cause by barotrauma in subjects exposed to changes in atmospheric pressure.
