The objective of this research work was to prospect and characterize rhizospheric bacteria against pathogens of rice cultivars in Panamá Republic. To do this, samples were taken from the rhizosphere of rice (Oryza sativa) variety GAB 8, in a plot under the modality of organic subsistence agriculture. Rhizospheric bacteria were isolated, determining significant differences in total isolates for the crop cycle variables (2016, 2017), sections of the rhizosphere (soil section, root section, soil + root mixture), phenological phases (vegetative, flowering, ripening) and dilutions (10-1 to 10-7). The antagonistic capacity of the rhizospheric bacteria against the phytopathogenic bacterium Burkholderia glumae was evaluated. The highest inhibitory power against B. glumae was found in 6 strains identified as Bacillus spp, 2 strains identified as Bacillus cereus, 1 strain identified as Bacillus subtillis and 1 strain identified as Lactobacillus plantarum (The API system).
