Water is necessary for life and its physical and chemical properties are very important for the survival of ecosystems. Being a natural resource allows the development and maintenance of a society. Its treatment involves processes making it suitable for human or animal consumption, irrigation, industrial use, among others. For this reason, water may be exposed to contaminants that put its quality at risk. In this study carried out at the Antonio Yepes De León (AYDL) water treatment plant, the water quality was verified, analytical evaluations were carried out supported by the drinking water regulations and their continuous monitoring. In this sense, it can be mentioned that the comparative evaluations allow to verify that said purification processes fulfill the purpose for the supply of drinking water. The methodology used was based on the review of physicochemical and microbiological processes in the laboratory that determined physical parameters in situ, special chemical analyses, bacteriological and phycological analyzes in the water, characterizing the importance of the analytical techniques used in the management and quality control of water from tributaries or effluents from the purification plant.
