Abstract

The objective of this study is to analyze the quality management system of bedridden patient safety, compiling, reviewing and analyzing studies carried out by different authors and institutions related to the subject. The research is descriptive and documentary in order to describe the situation of the quality management system for the safety of bedridden patients in Panama.

The results obtained show that the health system throughout history has presented problems related to patient safety worldwide. The quality management of patient safety in the health system, compared to other fields, has been deficient, as there are no regulations or protocols that standardize health services. Unfortunately, Panama has not escaped the reality described.

It is essential to improve the Quality Management System for the Safety of Bedridden Patients, it is not until 2021 that the WHO presents a global action plan for this purpose and it is expected to solve the safety problems, implementing strategies in the system.
