Abstract

Given the nature of the work carried out by the Technological Assistance Dental, they are permanently exposed to a series of occupational risks that can affect their physical and mental well-being. From this vision, the purpose of this study arises to analyze theoretically the scope of ergonomy and occupational health in the Dental Assistance Technician. Methodologically, the qualitative approach was considered, with the type of theoretical-documentary research, supported by a bibliographic design, with a descriptive and transversal scope. The data collection techniques and instruments were direct observation, content analysis and a registration matrix for the secondary information sources reviewed. Chronologically, the sample covered the literature consulted, from 2020 to 2022. Fifteen (15) scientific publications available in search engines were reviewed: Google Academic, SciElo, PubMed, Dianlnet and Redalyc, as well as data from the World Health Organization. Health (WHO), Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) and the Ministry of Health of Panama (MINSA). As conclusions, the most common ergonomic elements in the work environment of dental care technicians that contribute to health problems were determined, such as inadequate postures, repetitive movements and use of tools and equipment. Likewise, ergonomic factors that affect the physical and mental health of technicians were identified, including symptoms such as musculoskeletal pain, fatigue, stress and other work-related conditions. Finally, practical interventions and occupational health policies were suggested that can be implemented to minimize ergonomic risks and improve the general well-being of these professionals in their workplace.
