Abstract

The central axis of this article is based on the reflection of five fundamental components, around the key actors of the International Decade 2015-2024: "The African descent".

  • A conceptual approach to the term, as a starting point for the study of the African descent population and its statistical
  • The disarticulation of the identity character, motivated by racism and structural racial
  • The “Afro” presence in Panama, from the colony to the Republic, revealing the behavior of statistical data, from the first population censuses to the
  • “Self-recognition” as a resource for the statistical visibility of “Afros” in data
  • The affirmative measures achieved in this century, towards strengthening the identity and recognition of the rights of African descent, from Durban to the International Decade.
