The plastic is a very useful material but despite its multiple applications it represents an environmental problem due to accumulation mainly in the marine ecosystem and its long period of time for degradation. Given this situation, alternative materials have been developed, such as bioplastics, which use renewable resources as raw materials such as starch. This work corresponds to a project carried out in the class Mass Balance, with the objective to extract starch from corn grains and combine it with glycerin and acetic acid in the preparation of a bioplastic sheet. Once the processes were completed, the result of performance was 5.72% lower than other studies and a bioplastic degradation percentage of 89.40% for a period of 42 days of experimentation. This is satisfactory when compared with the requirements established in international regulations for these materials.
