Abstract

Fungi play an important role as decomposers because transform organic matter into simpler and similar substances by other living things. Ecological studies of fungi are rare in Panama, causing a limited knowledge of species richness distribution and therefore little information that allows us to make sound decisions in the field of conservation and protection of forest areas is owned interest. The study was conducted in the Portobelo National Park located in the province of Colon with the aim of comparing the diversity of macrofungi in forest ecosystems and mangrove.
The results show a total of 109 macrofungi (morphotypes), 50 secondary and 59 in Guinea Secundary Forest and La Playa Mangrove Forest. La Playa Mangrove Forest has greater diversity of macrofungi (morphotypes) considering the frequency and abundance of them. Research in this area can help to have more tools that allow us to make contributions to the conservation and protection of our forests.
