Darién, province of Panamá, has a tropical forest territory, well conserved, between 100 and 160 km that runs from Atlantic to Pacific borders of Panama. This territory cannot be crossed via land and this land portion is known as Tapón del Darién. Tourism has grown steadily in recent years and it is not harmful or affect the environment, this fact is appropriate to integrate Darien totally to ecotourism activities. Developing ecotourism will lower the deforestation level caused by logging and uncontrolled livestock activities. This research was based on a deductive method to analyze the factors inherent in the Darien region, joined to the objective of evaluating the financial impact of this region in tourism. From the perspective of the data analyzed in this paper, is considered logical and necessary the use of the Darien region in tourism; but under coordination of environmental experts to avoid harms to the ecosystem of the region of Darien.
