This article studies the incidence of the Burnout Syndrome assessed by the MBI (Maslach & Jackson, 1981) in a sample of professors from the College of Natural and Exact Sciences and Technology at the University of Panama.The results indicate a high level of burnout in the dimensions of Depersonalization and Emotional Exhaustion insome departments of the College, and High Professional Self-esteem in others. Variables such as marital status, age, having children or not, are not related to the degree of burnout. In regards to factors such as Years of Teaching and Academic degree, these are not related to the degree of burnout.
